Face-to-Face Encounter with Sasquatch Near Salt Fork State Park

Date of Encounter: Summer 1987
Location: West of Salt Fork State Park, Ohio

Encounter Narrative:
In the summer of 1987, my girlfriend and I decided to camp on private land just west of Salt Fork State Park. The night started peacefully enough, but things took a terrifying turn. As we settled into our campsite, we became aware of something off in the woods and Heavy footsteps were heard not far away.

Then, out of nowhere, a massive Sasquatch charged into our campsite. We bolted into the surrounding woods, leaving everything behind. It was very dark, and with no clear path, we quickly became disoriented.

While sitting in complete silence, trying to gather our bearings, we realized we were not alone. The became very quiet and the we noticed the sound of something moving stealthily toward us. Suddenly, the creature appeared just feet in front of us.

Without warning, the Sasquatch let out a deafening roar that shook me to my core. In that moment, sheer terror took hold, my body froze, and I literally lost control and urinated out of fear.

After what felt like an eternity, the creature took off into the woods as suddenly as it had appeared. Using the compass on my watch, we managed to navigate our way back to the truck. Thankfully, I had the foresight to keep an extra set of keys hidden under the bumper. Otherwise, we would have been stranded until sunrise.

Even now, decades later, the memory of that night haunts me. I’ve served in combat zones, faced life-threatening situations, but nothing compares to the sheer dread of coming face-to-face with that creature. That fear stays with you forever.

Description of the Sasquatch:

  • Height: Estimated well over 8 feet

  • Build: Massive, muscular, and imposing

  • Behavior: Aggressive and territorial, but calculated

Additional Notes:
This occurred just west of Salt Fork State Park, a location known for numerous Bigfoot sightings over the years. The area’s dense woods and seclusion make it a prime habitat for such an elusive creature.

To this day, I’ll never camp in that area again. What I experienced goes beyond anything I thought possible, leaving me with a newfound respect—and fear—for the unknown.
