Hoosier national forest Bigfoot Encounter
Thanksgiving weekend of 2022 was supposed to be a fun escape for two friends from Northwest Indiana. Their plan was simple: three days in the wilderness, camping and filming bushcraft content for their YouTube channel. They chose a secluded spot deep in the woods, seeking the peace and solitude necessary for their creative pursuits. However, what unfolded over the next three days would leave them questioning the boundaries between the natural and the unknown.
From the first day, the woods seemed off. While setting up camp, one of the men found a golf ball-sized clump of brown hair. “It wasn’t fur,” he writes, but was coarse and unusual, compelling enough that he took a short video and snapped a photograph. As he worked to pitch his tent, a persistent feeling of being watched settled over him, so intense it prickled the back of his neck. It wasn’t paranoia—he could physically feel the unease in the center of his back.
Later that evening, an unsettling pressure filled his left ear, like the sensation of taking off in an airplane. The discomfort lasted for five minutes. The men both remarked on the strange atmosphere, likening it to being in a vacuum, as though the forest itself were holding its breath. That night, as the fire crackled, footsteps echoed just outside the firelight. Armed with a 14,000-lumen flashlight, they scoured the area, but nothing appeared to account for the sounds.
Perhaps the most chilling events came the next night. From across the valley, they noticed three lights moving erratically. The glow resembled headlamps, yet they didn’t illuminate the surrounding trees or ground, defying logic. Then came the scream—three blood-curdling cries, rhythmic and piercing, breaking the unnatural silence. One of the men froze in place as he listened, but his friend, standing just ten feet away, heard nothing. It was as though the sound was intended for him alone.
The trip ended without any definitive answers, but the memories lingered. The clump of hair, the phantom footsteps, the scream, and the silent, isolated lights—each element seemed to hint at something beyond their comprehension. What was intended to be a routine bushcraft expedition became an unsettling brush with the unexplained, leaving the two friends questioning what truly inhabits the depths of the forest.
